Why a cowhide rug?

Cowhide is one of the hardest-wearing rug materials there is. It doesn't shed or flatten, shrugs off most spills, and suits busy rooms, from living rooms to dining rooms and studies. Patchwork takes it further: small pieces of hide are matched by colour and stitched together, so the rug can be large, rectangular or oval, and patterned without dye.

Caring for cowhide

  • Shake it out or vacuum on a low setting, in the direction of the hair.
  • Blot spills straight away with a dry cloth. Don't soak the hide or steam clean it.
  • Rotate it every few months if it sits in direct sun, so it fades evenly.
